Position OverviewThe primary function of the Service Sales Engineer is to achieve assigned sales quota through technical marketing and sales of Eaton Data Center segment services. The Engineer will manage all aspects of the customer relationship, providing sales and technical assistance with distributors, customers, end users and specifiers. The role requires proactively targeting projects and leveraging industry relationships to position Eaton as a preferred service provider.
Exceptional customer service, technical competencies, and networking within the industry are essential. The focus is solution selling, facilitating collaboration across Eaton to drive growth of the entire portfolio while optimizing sales volume, product mix, profit margin, and marketplace sales.
- Provide leadership and guidance on the application of Eaton Data Center segment service offerings.
- Develop and support long-term customer relationships based on customer needs.
- Develop and complete service quotations and proposals.
- Provide service presentations.
- Review service requirements and provide sales strategies and guidance.
- Provide internal project management as needed.
- Understand competitor offerings.
- Work with sales forecasting, budgeting, and quota responsibilities.
- Cold call and engage perceptive end users and customers confidently.
- Schedule and conduct face‑to‑face visits with customers (several per week).
- Develop quotations quickly and accurately.
- Convince customers of the value of Eaton’s services.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum one (1) year of electrical industry experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
- Time management, presentation, and planning skills.
- Ability to work in a team‑selling approach.
- Command knowledge of Eaton products and services and ability to assemble standard offerings to meet customer needs with occasional internal oversight.
- Understanding of the sales process and use of sales techniques evidenced by strong customer relationships.
- Skilled in Bid Manager and Salesforce.
- Knowledge of market trends, industry issues, and competitors.
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to leverage support personnel to meet customer and organizational needs.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
The compensation range for this full‑time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive. The target total compensation range is $81,750 – $119,900.
Base salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
