Position Overview
The Commercial Estimator is responsible for leveraging the Commercial Account Managers’ efforts by compiling and inputting project quotes to present to customers. Assist Commercial Account Managers’ in achieving and maintaining excellent customer satisfaction and build the brand within the commercial industry as their premier choice for window and door solutions. Continually strive for 100% “Very Satisfied” customers, growth as measured by market share/net sales and profitability.
Responsibilities/AccountabilitiesReviews blueprints, notes, specifications, take-offs and prepares an accurate and detailed quote for Commercial Account Managers to leverage their time prospecting quoting opportunities.
Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Develops strong proficiency with applicable products and PQM to review and prepare quotes.
Provides back up support for Project Coordinators in times of heavy volume or off‑time, including reviewing contracts and verifying product detail from the Commercial Account Managers’, verifying product need dates with customers, confirming and scheduling deliveries, routing deliveries, scheduling any value‑add work, coordinating and scheduling installations of products with subcontractor installers.
Promotes and facilitates continuous improvement activities in the department. Finds root cause of missed sales and helps coordinate solutions.
Understands and utilizes all necessary software by continually learning through experience and training.
Skills/KnowledgeUnderstands commercial window and door systems and incorporates relevant performance and code requirements into estimates.
Able to analyze information to prepare quotes with great attention to detail.
Develop partnerships with other businesses that serve the same customers.
Provide superb customer service and share information on potential referrals to sales team.
Creates a sense of trust and reliability with customers and coworkers.
Skilled at relating to a variety of customers—balances poise and integrity with a service mentality.
Enjoys working in fast‑paced environment with a high sense of urgency.
Strong problem‑solving skills.
Seeks out internal experts and utilizes their knowledge.
Adaptable to changing processes and priorities.
Works well without close supervision but always keeps manager, account managers, and project coordinators informed.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and smart devices, and ability to learn internal software programs and applications.
