The Lead Software Engineer and Architect will provide overall platform architecture design and technical direction to a team comprising AHP and Third-Party Development Partners. This team consists of full-stack developers, front-end developers, back-end developers, database engineers, mobile developers, and SQA engineers.

Key duties include platform architectural leadership and decision-making, establishing design patterns and coding standards, leading code refactoring, leading developer code reviews, refining the software estimation process, and mentoring junior developers.

We use a hybrid software development approach with two-week sprints, a UI/UX-driven design, a modern cloud-based scalable architecture, manual and automated software QA, and CI/CD-based deployment and release processes.

This position may have access to sensitive information such as PII and/or PHI. As such, all AHP employees sign and adhere to AHP’s Information Security Handbook, which covers information security policies and procedures.

AHP’s offices are in Grapevine, Texas (west of DFW Airport). The candidate needs to be in the general Dallas / Fort Worth area with the ability to work in the office. AHP is adopting a hybrid working approach for Teams after an initial onboarding period.

• Work as the overall lead Software Engineer providing platform-level architecture design, the establishment of technical standards, design reviews leadership, and overall technical direction to our development team.
• Directly design and document platform architecture, design patterns, microservices, and APIs.
• Provide software engineering leadership in development ceremonies, including technical design sessions, sprint planning, code reviews, and sprint retrospectives.
• Provide overall software development technical direction and mentoring to the software development team. Includes developing design patterns, architectural patterns, and coding standards.
• Lead team-based design sessions as needed to provide technical direction and mentorship.
• Establish performance, consistency, and reusability coding standards for team-wide use.
• Provide hands-on development for our platform’s most challenging and complex aspects.
• Lead the hands-on design and development of new architectural elements.
• Lead platform-wide performance optimization efforts as needed.
• Develop and oversee an ongoing technical debt reduction strategy.
• Provide design reviews, estimate reviews, and code reviews as needed across the development team.
• Work with management to refine and optimize overall software development methodologies, task assignment, and tracking.
• Recommend new development and testing tools, techniques, and methods.
• Perform unit testing on software.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs to add to existing integration capabilities.
• Use Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, and Git Hub during development.
• Collaborate with the software QA team on integration, regression testing, and associated defect corrections.
• Collaborate with the overall team on release and deployment using Docker/Docker Hub and Kubernetes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar Technical Area and/or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of experience as a full stack developer in an AWS or Azure-hosted, .NET CORE, C#, Angular, and MS SQL development environment.
• 3+ years of experience as overall architect for a cloud-based SaaS platform.
• 5+ years designing and implementing scalable RESTful APIs.
• 3+ years in container-based application architecture, deployment, and release environments. 3+ years in Angular or NodeJS. 3+ years with cloud technologies using AWS or Azure.
• 2+ years working with near-shore development partners a plus.
• Experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence.
• Experience with Git Hub, NuGet, Docker/Docker Hub, Circle
  
  CI, Kubernetes, and Rabbit MQ a plus.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming language paradigms.
• Experience with Agile-based development.
