The Accounting Manager supports the day-to-day compliant, efficient and effective financial operations of the organization. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will supervise and review the day-to-day financial activities and perform a number of high level accounting functions for reporting and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role serves as a mentor to junior staff and works collaboratively with billing and other departments to help Western Sierra Medical Clinic fulfill its mission:
Providing accessible, quality medical, dental and behavioral health services through innovative, patient-centered care in our communities.

GENERAL DUTIES:
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial data is input into the accounting system.
  • Review and approve transactions prepared by the supervised staff ensuring the process and outcomes comply with established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close procedures per established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and file annual welfare exemption and property tax filings.
  • File Unclaimed Property reports.
  • Assist with the annual audit and 990 preparation.
  • Assist with the UDS financial reports, the Medicare Cost reports, the Medi-Cal Reconciliation reports and all other required cost and revenue reports.
  • Grant management and monthly grant closing duties.
  • Work collaboratively with the finance team (including the CFO) to ensure that output is accurate and timely.
  • Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting - minimum
  • Five years of progressively complex professional experience - minimum
  • Three years of direct supervision - minimum
  • A deep knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience in financial operations of an organization with an operating budget of $10 MM or more.

  • Resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
  • Technologically savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having worked with IT staff to develop and implement new processes and systems that increased efficiency in a fast-moving environment.
  • Flexible and motivated to manage a variety of detail-oriented projects.
  • Demonstration of integrity, credibility, and a commitment.
