The Accounting Manager supports the day-to-day compliant, efficient and effective financial operations of the organization. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will supervise and review the day-to-day financial activities and perform a number of high level accounting functions for reporting and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role serves as a mentor to junior staff and works collaboratively with billing and other departments to help Western Sierra Medical Clinic fulfill its mission:
Providing accessible, quality medical, dental and behavioral health services through innovative, patient-centered care in our communities.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Ensure accurate and timely financial data is input into the accounting system.

Review and approve transactions prepared by the supervised staff ensuring the process and outcomes comply with established accounting policies and procedures.

Perform month-end and year-end close procedures per established policies and procedures.

Prepare and file annual welfare exemption and property tax filings.

File Unclaimed Property reports.

Assist with the annual audit and 990 preparation.

Assist with the UDS financial reports, the Medicare Cost reports, the Medi-Cal Reconciliation reports and all other required cost and revenue reports.

Grant management and monthly grant closing duties.

Work collaboratively with the finance team (including the CFO) to ensure that output is accurate and timely.

Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.

Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting - minimum

Five years of progressively complex professional experience - minimum

Three years of direct supervision - minimum

A deep knowledge and understanding of GAAP.

Experience in financial operations of an organization with an operating budget of $10 MM or more.

Resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.

Technologically savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having worked with IT staff to develop and implement new processes and systems that increased efficiency in a fast-moving environment.

Flexible and motivated to manage a variety of detail-oriented projects.

Demonstration of integrity, credibility, and a commitment.
