American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg/Tele unit requiring CA RN licensure, 2+ years of experience, and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

• Acute care setting on a 38-bed Med Surg/Tele unit with 8 telemetry beds
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• General Med Surg patients including post-op general and orthopedic cases
• Fast-paced unit with a 2-hallway layout
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour day shifts beginning at 0645 with bedside report
• Every other weekend required
• Floats to telemetry and is first to float
• Charge nurse available (does not typically take patients but assists with break relief)
• Nurse aides available as census and staffing dictate
• Hospitalist/Intensivist, RT, and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team or ventilator management on this unit
• 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor

• Active CA RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must be competent interpreting EKG strips
• Must be competent with Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips
• Two supervisor references required (one within 12 months, one within 3 years), including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia Basic exam prior to confirmed offer (pass/fail, two attempts allowed)

• Provide general medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care, including post-op general and orthopedic patients
• Facility-wide orientation is held in Sacramento rather than at the local hospital
• Navy scrub color required; under shirts must be navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets (if worn) must be navy
• Will rotate holiday coverage with core staff and is expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's); holiday time off is considered but not guaranteed
• Self-scheduling is used but finalized by the manager, with schedules posted 4 weeks out
• Candidates must pass a sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation
• Candidates who fail the Relias or sterile technique exam twice will be ineligible for 6 months with this health system's Sacramento region and Arizona facilities
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by this health system within the past year
• Medical or religious COVID vaccine declination accepted (medical requires physician's note; religious requires no documentation)
