Vegetation Management Inspector

ACRT Pacific, LLC is seeking energetic entry‑level professionals who enjoy working outdoors. This is a full‑time opportunity for individuals who are looking to gain Forestry experience. The ideal candidate has an educational background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, biology, environmental studies, conservation, or a related discipline.

This position is designated as a safety‑sensitive role and requires a Class C driver’s license.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform circuit patrols in accordance with the annual Vegetation Management (VM) plan, VM patrol standards, and processes.
  • Identify required tree work along the existing PG&E rights‑of‑way, prescribe tree work, and document inspections.
  • Ensure inspections meet applicable standards and maintain proper recordkeeping.
  • Notify property owners/agencies when tree work will occur, obtain necessary authorizations, and coordinate tree clearance crews.
  • Act as the VM contact for new business and re‑construction work requested by the energy delivery organization.
  • Perform work verification inspections, verify applicable inspection and tree work completion and quality.
  • Investigate and document tree‑related outages, attend outage meetings as requested.
  • Track, field check, prescribe work, and notify customers for non‑routine locations (EC/LC, Gas OCW, CC&B).
  • Support emergency response and dispatch tree crews as directed by OEC.
  • Complete tasks assigned by the supervisor independently.
  • Support oversight of vegetation projects, including tree assessment, tree trimming, and other work as required.
  • Participate in Contractor safety and tailboard meetings.
  • Act as a customer relations representative on behalf of PG&E.
  • Coordinate between contractors, communities, agencies, first responders, and all other PG&E work groups and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (annual permits, encroachment permits, traffic control plans, railroad permits, Caltrans permits, environmental protection measures).
  • Proficient in electronic devices and documentation proficiency; complete electronic and paper‑based documentation and reporting.
Basic Responsibilities
  • Patrol distribution or transmission circuits, prescribe work to PG&E tree contractor, maintain compliance for a minimum of one calendar year.
  • Determine trim or removal requirements, assess trees that may strike PG&E facilities for failure likelihood and hazards.
  • Identify, prescribe required tree pruning and tree/brush removal work to facilitate electric compliance tags (e.g., 540 tags).
  • Manage EC notifications, perform outage investigations, obtain permits from public agencies, document work in VMDSR or other PG&E assigned databases using hand‑held computer or iOS mobile device.
  • Use computers and associated software, enter data into and process data from hand‑held devices as required.
  • Perform all necessary duties for emergency response in accordance with safety requirements, laws, regulations, and applicable labor agreements or iOS mobile device as directed by the supervisor.
  • Maintain direct contact with PG&E division personnel, public agencies, and customers as directed by the PG&E representative.
  • Knows and exemplifies ACRT’s Guiding Principles.
  • Other duties as required.
Equipment, Environmental and Safety Requirements
  • Driving cars, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Walking on uneven ground.
  • Exposure to excessive noise.
  • Exposure to extremes in temperature, humidity, or wetness.
  • Operation of foot controls or repetitive foot movement.
  • Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Prolong periods of time sitting (driving/meetings/training).
  • Various forestry‑related equipment, including but not limited to clinometer, range finder, logger's tape, DBH tape and other safety‑related equipment such as hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, etc.
Qualifications
  • Board Certified Master Arborist or high school diploma/GED + required driver’s license as a minimum.
  • Experience levels:
    One year of related arboricultural experience, ISA Certified Arborist, or 2‑year or 4‑year college degree in a related field (approval by PG&E Representative).
