Management Accountant

The Role:

Silcom Recruitment is recruiting for a Management Accountant on behalf of an established, reputable and forward-thinking motor trade group. This opportunity combines technical accounting, financial analysis and business partnering, alongside responsibility for managing a team of four. The successful candidate will have proven experience producing management accounts, strong Excel skills and an analytical approach. You will work closely with directors and operational managers, translating financial information into practical advice that supports business performance.

Motor trade experience would be advantageous, but applications are welcomed from candidates outside the industry who can demonstrate strong technical accounting skills and relevant experience. Responsibilities & Requirements of a Management Accountant:
Produce accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss reporting, balance sheets and supporting commentary, within agreed deadlines. Analyse performance against budgets, forecasts and prior periods, investigating variances and highlighting risks and opportunities. Act as a finance business partner to directors and operational managers, explaining financial results clearly and providing constructive challenge to support commercial decisions. Prepare group consolidations, ensuring intercompany balances reconcile, consolidation adjustments are accurate and accounting policies are applied consistently.

Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring balances are fully supported and outstanding items are investigated and resolved promptly. Maintain and reconcile directors’ loan accounts, ensuring transactions are correctly recorded and any associated tax or reporting implications are raised with the group’s advisers. Manage, support and develop a team of four, allocating workloads, reviewing output and maintaining clear standards for accuracy and deadlines.

Monitor changes to relevant UK accounting standards, legislation and reporting requirements, assess their impact and advise the group on any action required. Salary: £40,000–£45,000 salary Company car. Study support. Flexibility over the group site from which the role is based, subject to location and team requirements.
