Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Role:

We are seeking a proactive and confident Health, Safety & Operations Support Manager to support our construction operations and maintain high standards of health and safety across multiple projects. Reporting directly to the Directors, this is a hands-on role combining site audits, compliance, documentation and operational support. You will ideally spend 1-2 days per week visiting live construction sites, identifying issues, producing reports and ensuring corrective actions are completed.

The successful candidate will be organised, confident challenging poor practices and comfortable working with Directors, Contracts Managers and site teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular health and safety audits across construction sites.
  • Prepare audit reports and manage corrective actions through to completion.
  • Challenge unsafe practices and elevate significant issues where necessary.
  • Champion company H&S policies, procedures and standards.
  • Maintain internal policies, procedures and health and safety documentation.
  • Assist Contracts Managers with site files and project documentation.
  • Assist with Construction Phase Plans (CPPs), risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
  • Monitor compliance, maintain action trackers and report findings to the Directors.
  • Support SSIP accreditations, tender submissions and future ISO management system implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve health and safety and operational processes.
About You:
  • Experience in a Health & Safety Manager, Assistant H&S Manager, H&S Advisor or similar role.
  • Construction industry experience, particularly site audits and compliance, is highly desirable.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital document management systems.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to challenge poor standards professionally.
  • IOSH qualification or membership would be advantageous, but formal qualifications are not essential.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary of £35,000-£50,000, depending on experience.
  • Full-time, permanent employment.
  • Hybrid working between the office and construction sites.
  • Direct reporting to the Directors.
  • An opportunity to make a real impact on health and safety standards across the business.
Location requirement:

Applicants must live locally to the office or within a reasonable commuting distance, as regular office attendance and travel to sites are required.
