ANZUK Education is supporting a welcoming and community-focused primary school in Gravesend that is seeking to appoint a Year 1 Teacher on a maternity cover contract from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to inspire and support pupils at a key stage of their education. You will deliver engaging, creative lessons, foster a love of learning, and help every child to thrive academically, socially and emotionally within a supportive and collaborative school environment.
About the role- Teach and inspire a Year 1 class through engaging, interactive lessons.
- Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where children can thrive.
- Plan and deliver creative learning opportunities that encourage discovery, investigation and curiosity.
- Monitor and celebrate pupil progress, supporting every child to achieve their best.
- Deliver high-quality phonics teaching and support pupils in preparing for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.
- Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers to promote effective home-school partnerships.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff as part of a dedicated team.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour and pupil wellbeing.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the school through meetings, events and professional development.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching Geography within a UK secondary school setting
- Ability to commit to a full-time, long-term position
- Strong subject knowledge and effective classroom management skills
- Be passionate about delivering skills and knowledge through an interactive approach to learning.
- Have a good understanding of learning through discovery and investigation.
- Enjoy celebrating children's achievements and progress.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
