About Network RailNetwork Rail High Speed Ltd (NRHS) operates and maintains HS1, the UK's only international high‑speed railway, covering 109km of track, signalling, overhead line and associated stations including St Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Stratford International. NRHS is a subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd and is privately financed under an agreement with its client HS1 Ltd, undertaking a diverse range of activities from infrastructure maintenance and operations to station facilities management and retail.
Aboutthe Role
As an OCS Technician you will keep the power flowing and the railway moving. Working closely with a Team Leader and specialist maintenance team, you will conduct inspections, renewals, maintenance, diagnostics and faulting in challenging environments to the highest safety and engineering standards. You will also take on Team Leader duties when required, ensuring safe work arrangements, quality control and that staff have the correct competencies.
TechnicalBackground (Preferred)
- Electrical & Electronic Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Maintenance
- HVAC / Air Conditioning Systems
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Systems
- Solid understanding of electrical principles
- Willingness to learn and build new technical skills
- Commitment to safe working practices
- Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Knowledge of the railway industry
- Experience mentoring or developing team members
- Ability to share lessons learned and promote continuous improvement
- Understanding of operational railway environments

Important Information- Shift pattern: days, nights, weekends (safety‑critical role)
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Drug/alcohol testing, medical checks, hearing and eyesight tests required
- Must live within 60 minutes of the depot
