Project Manager (Contract) – Reconductoring

The project

Working via Hays, you’ll join a Tier 1 delivery team on a nationally significant reconductoring scheme (c. £55m) replacing all fittings and conductors on existing towers along a ~27 km route from Grain to Gravesend. The line ultimately interfaces with a new power tunnel currently being delivered by FBJV. The scheme sits within National Grid’s Great Grid Partnership (GGP), a major programme with £1.4bn of work over the next five years.

Your role

As Project Manager, you will take full end‑to‑end ownership for safe, on‑time, on‑budget delivery of reconductoring works and associated interfaces.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Leading delivery planning, outage/readiness and section‑by‑section execution for reconductoring across lattice tower assets.
• Managing programme, cost, risk, change and reporting (NEC contracts), and chairing daily/weekly coordination meetings.
• Overseeing RAMS, permits and access, ensuring zero‑harm performance and compliance with CDM and client standards.
• Coordinating multiple subcontract packages (OHL, access/temporary works, civils enabling) and logistics along the 27 km corridor.
• Interfacing with the tunnel connection works team (FBJV) to align milestones, testing/commissioning and energisation readiness.
• Stakeholder management with client representatives, land access, environmental and consenting stakeholders.
• Quality assurance (ITPs/NCRs), progress verification, and handover documentation.

About youWe’re keen to speak with Project Managers who can demonstrate:

• Proven delivery of OHL/reconductoring or closely related HV transmission works.
• Strong command of NEC (ideally NEC4 ECC), commercial change and programme controls (P6/MSP desirable).
• Excellent SHE leadership and familiarity with CDM; robust RAMS and temporary works awareness.
• Interface management experience across multi‑disciplinary programmes (e.g., OHL ↔ cable/tunnel/substation).
