Breakdown & Recovery Team Member (Hoo Junction)

DB Cargo UK is recruiting a Team Member for our Breakdown & Recovery department based at Hoo Junction. The role involves assisting with derailments or incidents on the UK rail network.

Breakdown & Recovery is a national service that provides safe and efficient restoration of normal running conditions after an incident. As a team member, you will work to the instruction of the Breakdown & Recovery Supervisor at all times. The position is based at Hoo Junction but may require travel across the UK.

• Support the supervisor and team in restoring rail services safely and efficiently following incidents.
• Create a safe working environment in the depot and on site.
• Manual handling of packing materials and jacking equipment.
• Undertake cutting/welding tasks as competence permits.
• Carry out maintenance in the depot to ensure that equipment is safe and stored correctly.
• Proactively use depot time to maintain equipment, develop skills and support the wider team.

Shifts cover a 24/7 period, including bank holidays, weekends and nights. The position is 42 hours per week.

• A strong desire to learn and develop professionally, with open thinking and the ability to adapt to new ways of working.
• Strong communication skills, comfortably working alone and in a team.
• A positive working attitude.
• Good basic IT skills.
• A full UK driving licence with a class 1 rating.
