Transport Manager HGV Fleet | O Licence Compliance | Waste & Recycling
We are recruiting an experienced Transport Manager (National/International CPC / O Licence Holder) to oversee a mixed HGV fleet within a busy Waste Management and Recycling operation in North Kent
.
This hands‑on Transport Manager role will take full responsibility for HGV fleet management, transport compliance, O Licence compliance, DVSA regulations, driver management, and transport planning ops
, across a varied commercial vehicle fleet including:
- 7.5 Tonne Cage Tail Lifts
- 3.5 Tonne Tipper Tail Lifts
- 12 Tonne Hook Loaders
- 32 Tonne Hook Loaders
- Articulated (Artic) HGV
You will ensure the safe, legal, and efficient movement of waste materials in and around the London Area while maintaining full Operator Licence compliance, fleet compliance, drivers hours regulations, tachograph management, vehicle inspections, and FORS Gold standards
.
This role will be ideal for somebody who enjoys working in a dynamic operational environment and wants to take ownership for keeping transport running smoothly day‑to‑day.
Responsibilities- Manage day‑to‑day transport operations within a fast‑paced waste management environment
- Ensure full O Licence compliance and fulfil duties as the nominated Transport Manager / Operator Licence holder
- Oversee HGV fleet compliance, vehicle inspections, maintenance scheduling, and workshop coordination
- Monitor and manage drivers hours, tachographs, and WTD compliance
- Lead and develop drivers, promoting strong transport compliance and health & safety culture
- Oversee transport planning, vehicle routing, and route optimisation
- Maintain accurate transport records and compliance documentation
- Utilise Transport Management Systems (TMS) for fleet visibility and operational control
- Maintain FORS Gold accreditation standards
- Monitor and report on transport KPIs, fuel usage, operational costs, and fleet efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement across fleet compliance, logistics performance, and service delivery
- 35 years experience as a Transport Manager
- National or International CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
- Strong knowledge of UK Transport Law and Compliance
- Experience using a Transport Management System (TMS)
- Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Strong team leadership and driver management experience
- Computer literate
- Ability to work under pressure with strong attention to detail
- FORS Practitioner
- Experience in Waste Management, Recycling, Construction, or Bulk Haulage
- Experience operating Hook Loaders, Skips, or Bulk Haulage fleets
- £35,000 - £50,000 Salary (DOE)
- Monday-Friday | Approx. 45 Hours Per Week
- Working hours:
7:30/8:00am - 5:00/5:30pm - 28 Days Holiday
