We are currently accepting applications for an immediate opening for a full time Experienced Construction Services Technician to be based at our Gray, Maine office and work on construction projects throughout southern and western Maine and northern New Hampshire.

If you have experience with construction materials testing, are looking for an opportunity to work in a team environment, and an opportunity for growth, we train and support our Team's professional development and skills by seeking certifications for construction materials testing. In addition to the company’s health, disability, and retirement benefit offerings, we also compensate for travel time to project sites and reimburse mileage if your personal vehicle is used for travel.

S. W. Cole Engineering team is an established employee owned firm with a history of over 45 years of success and stable growth serving clients throughout New England. We are a hardworking team with a passion for construction whose focus is to provide high quality services to our clients while helping each other reach our goals. This position involves construction materials testing and inspections (performing field testing and some laboratory testing of soil, concrete, masonry, asphalt and other materials components) associated with a variety of construction projects.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in Building Technology, Civil Engineering, or related degree preferred but not required.
  • Certifications and licenses related to construction materials testing are required, such as ACI Concrete Testing Grade I, NETTCP, and/or ICC General Requirements and Special inspections.
  • Valid driver’s license and active personal auto insurance policy.
  • Understand and apply basic math skills.
  • Materials sampling & handling (includes moving and transporting up to 75 lbs. over uneven ground).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in both verbal and written form.
  • Ability to interpret project specifications and plans and follow directions.
  • Ability to safely operate company equipment, and communicate using signals in the field.
  • Must obtain Nuclear Densometer Certification, and complete the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification within one month of hire (paid and provided by S.W.COLE).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer. We are not able to sponsor employment Visas at this time.

Travel Options

We have three options for traveling between our office and job sites for field based team members –
1) Use your own suitable vehicle and we compensate you for mileage.
2) Use one of our company trucks.
3) Join our Company Vehicle Program, which includes an allotment for personal use.
