Joseph Gallagher Limited is a leading civil engineering and construction business delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally. As part of our continued investment in future talent, we are offering an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer Degree Apprentice to join our engineering team.

This role provides the opportunity to gain hands‑on site and office experience while studying towards a Level 6 Civil Engineer Degree Apprenticeship (BEng Hons).

You will be enrolled on the Level 6 Civil Engineer Degree Apprenticeship
, a nationally recognised programme combining academic study with practical engineering experience. On successful completion, you will achieve a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering and be well positioned to work towards Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

As a Civil Engineer Degree Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers and project teams to support the design, delivery, and management of civil engineering projects. You will gain exposure to site operations, technical design, planning, health & safety, and commercial considerations.

• Supporting engineers in the planning and delivery of civil engineering projects
• Assisting with site engineering activities, setting out, and inspections
• Supporting technical drawings, specifications, and design information
• Assisting with risk assessments, method statements, and quality checks
• Monitoring progress, costs, and programme performance
• Supporting health, safety, and environmental compliance on site
• Working collaboratively with site, commercial, and design teams
• Applying engineering principles learned through academic study

We’re looking for a motivated individual with a strong interest in civil engineering and infrastructure.

You will ideally have:

• A strong interest in civil engineering and construction
• 3 A-levels (or equivalent) including Maths (and ideally a science subject), or a relevant Level 3 qualification at grade B or above
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• A proactive, professional attitude and willingness to learn
• A commitment to health, safety, and quality
