About The Role

Join Balfour Beatty Power Transmission and Distribution as a Site Manager and play a key role in delivering essential construction works that keep the UK’s infrastructure moving.

In this site‑based role, you’ll support the Project Team in driving safe, compliant and sustainable project delivery, from initial planning and design through to construction, commissioning and handover. You’ll help manage site resources, produce key project records, and ensure our people are supported to perform at their best.

As a proactive change agent and team leader, you’ll motivate a multi‑disciplinary workforce to achieve shared goals while balancing customer requirements across time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits.

Based across the UK on our projects, you will work on our Large Infrastructure within our Power Transmission and Distribution Projects.

The location of this role is Thurrock, Essex

What you'll be doing
  • Support delivery of construction activities safely, compliantly and to programme.
  • Maintain accurate project records and contribute to reports and project reviews.
  • Implement technical information, drawings, plant and equipment requirements into site delivery.
  • Promote and uphold Zero Harm through safety tours, RAMS, behavioural safety and workforce competency checks.
  • Coordinate site resources, setting people to work and ensuring skills, competencies and welfare standards are met.
  • Assist with risk, issue and opportunity management, escalating where necessary.
  • Manage subcontractors and support procurement to ensure materials and supply chain align with project needs.
  • Drive quality through audits, inspections, continuous improvement and achievement of KPIs.
  • Monitor progress, support short‑interval control, and contribute to schedule updates.
  • Control costs, support commercial change processes and ensure efficient use of resources.
Who we're looking for
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems, control cubicles, protection relays and substation control systems.
  • Familiar with National Grid electrical standards and confident interpreting electrical drawings for coordination with site, commissioning and design teams.
  • Experienced in safe systems of work, risk management and change processes, with strong commercial and contract awareness.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to brief teams clearly and explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Solutions‑focused, adaptable under pressure and confident in two‑way communication such as daily briefings and safety packs.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • O365 proficiency is desirable.
  • CSCS/SSSTS (or equivalent) is desirable.
