The College of Lake County (CLC) is seeking an Instructor of Heating & Air Conditioning Engineering Technology to instruct first and second-year college-level courses to a diverse student body at our Grayslake and Lakeshore campuses as well as local business, community, and industry partners. The HVAC program provides students with a strong foundation in the theory of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. You’ll gain hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art HVAC and refrigeration labs located in both Grayslake and Waukegan. Through practical training and real-world applications, students develop the technical skills needed to succeed in today’s industry.
Required Qualifications- Associate’s degree or higher in HVAC/R Technology or a closely related field AND at least 2 years (4,000 hours) recent industry work experience.
- OR a certificate in HVAC/R and a minimum of 5 years (10,000 hours) recent industry work experience.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis, and over 50 lbs. on an occasional basis with or without reasonable accommodations. Continuously walking or standing, frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting and occasionally sitting.
- Demonstrated professional learning or certification in evidence-based student-focused pedagogical teaching and assessment practice such as ACUE, workshops and data use.
- Advanced HVAC/R skills.
- HVAC/R commercial experience.

This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position
. Salary placement is based on education and experience. An optional summer contract may also be available, allowing for additional earnings.
For the 2024–2025 academic year (fall and spring semesters), the base salary range is $69,117 (with a master’s degree) to $83,790 (with a doctorate in the subject field). The base salary range for the 2026–2027 academic year is pending Board approval. The 2024–2025 hiring range is $69,117 to $122,758
, depending on education and relevant experience. The hiring range for 2026–2027 is also pending Board approval.
Faculty may be assigned to any of the three campuses:
Grayslake, Lakeshore, or Southlake
. New faculty hires are required to attend orientation during the week of August 3–7, prior to the official start date of August 10, 2026
