Job SummaryThis position will be involved in the instruction of one or more in-person non-modality Massage Therapy college level courses (e.g., MAS 114 - Massage: Business and Communications I) to a diverse student body during daytime, evening, and/or Saturday classes. The qualified candidate will utilize appropriate technology to deliver instructional materials, maintain grades, provide timely communications with students, etc. Maintains current knowledge of subject matter via professional organization membership, attendance at seminars, conferences and classes, and professional publications.
The course(s) must be taught in accordance with current program approved course descriptions, course outlines, textbooks, and syllabi. Prepare lecture and lesson plans, teach lecture and/or lab portion of class, and respond to and grade student work. Use appropriate academic software (e.g., Canvas, PowerPoint, etc.).

Responsibilities- Teach courses in subject field.
- Develop instructional materials.
- Assess student learning and assign grades.
- Attend required Adjunct meetings in the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Participate in college governance and other aspects of academic life.
- Maintain current knowledge of subject matter.
- Maintain compliance training, including Title IX and, if applicable, Clery Act.
- Select, prepare and maintain current curriculum, course outlines and instructional materials.
- Teach courses as scheduled each academic semester.
- Provide instructional support to students and refer to college services when appropriate.
- Provide syllabus with course objectives, learning outcomes, attendance policies, texts/readings, timelines and evaluation criteria.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
- Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles.
- Maintain records as required by the College and be available for student consultation.
- Resolve and document student complaints using College policies and procedures.
- Assist in developing discipline-appropriate measures of student achievement and administer instruments to measure learning outcomes as required.
- Provide all results as requested and submit grades electronically by deadlines.
- Encourage course evaluations and use feedback to improve delivery.
- Revise and update course content as needed.
- Participate in program advisory boards and college/department committees as appropriate.
- Maintain a high level of professional ethics.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in massage therapy, preventive health, wellness, exercise science, or other relevant field from an accredited institution with one year tested experience; OR
- Bachelor's degree - AND - 2 years of tested experience; OR
- Associate degree - AND - 2 years of tested experience
For Modality classes ONLY:
- Must have a current Illinois Massage Therapy license OR a certification in modality being taught.
Desired
Qualifications:
- Previous college teaching experience.
- Administrative experience in the preventative health, wellness, massage, and/or exercise science industries.
- Knowledge or experience with course management systems such as Canvas.
- Demonstrated professional learning or certification in evidence-based student-focused pedagogical teaching and assessment practices (e.g., ACUE) and data use.
