Electronics Technician, Quality Engineering
Actalent is hiring an Engineering Technician I in the Gages Lake area.
Position OverviewThis position is primarily responsible for electrical RD lab soldering rework and testing related to new and existing electromechanical medical devices. The candidate will understand, set up, perform, and monitor electronic testing activities with minimal guidance.
Responsibilities- Primary soldering and rework expert for the electrical lab, with extensive experience hand‑soldering SMT components as small as 0201 and 0.5mm pitch packages, as well as BGA with hot air and outer layer modifications and repair of printed circuit board wiring.
- Execute electrical test procedures at the system and board levels using a variety of test equipment including DMMs, DC power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and scales.
- Monitor automated testing and report status with limited data analysis and interpretation.
- Expand the position to include test case writing as needed.
- Collaborate with lab staff and engineers to keep the lab organized and maintained.
- Follow direction from engineering manager, lab supervisor, and test engineers on safe working procedures, equipment usage, recording of test data, and monitoring of results.
- Use Altium or other PCBA layout tools for viewing to identify physical connections and component placement for rework.
- Fine pitch surface mount soldering reflow and rework expertise.
- Experience using electrical test equipment and executing tests.
- Strong organization, record‑keeping, and MS Excel skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills to maintain records and provide data to project engineers, managers, and support problem resolution.
- High School diploma or equivalent; BS Degree preferred.
- 3 years of soldering experience with 1 year of electronics testing.
- Basic computer skills.
Contract position based out of Gages Lake, IL. Final date to receive applications:
