Medical Assistant – Family Medicine (Full Time Days) – $2,000 Sign On Bonus
Salary range: $18.98 - $24.68 per hour. Placement within the range is based on relevant experience and internal equity. If represented by a labor union, placement follows the collective bargaining agreement.

This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) at the Grayslake clinic. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM. Bilingual Spanish is preferred but not required.
The Medical Assistant supports physicians, nurses, and other licensed staff by facilitating efficient patient flow, assisting with patient care activities, and performing related administrative functions while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities- Assure efficient patient flow through the site:
- Escort patients to exam rooms, identify patients with two identifiers, and prepare for examination.
- Obtain accurate vital signs per organizational standards.
- Document reason for visit and update patient information (allergies, smoking history, pharmacy).
- Notify provider and registered nurse of significant changes in vital signs or acute symptoms.
- Anticipate and set up equipment or supplies needed for visits.
- Clean and prepare exam rooms for the next patient.
- Respond to needs promptly to maintain flow and prioritize tasks.
- Assist with medical and surgical procedures as per protocols (ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection, CLIA‑waived testing).
- Provide high‑quality care by:
- Preparing and stocking exam rooms, disinfecting and sterilizing equipment.
- Participating in environmental safety rounds.
- Maintaining vaccine/medication inventory.
- Monitoring equipment and instruments according to clinic guidelines.
- Assisting with supply orders and disposing of expired items.
- Adhering to office opening and closing procedures.
- Promote patient satisfaction through professional, friendly interaction:
- Accept and perform delegated responsibilities positively.
- Offer assistance to others.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Communicate effectively with patients and the care team.
- Perform delegated procedures common to the specialty safely and efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
Required:
- Written proof of eligibility for one of the five Medical Assistant certification exams (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA).
- Within first six months of employment, complete one of the following certifications (up to two attempts):
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – AAMA
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – AMT
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – NCCT
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – NHA
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – NAHP
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong computer skills.
- Signed acknowledgement that certification must be attained within six months as a condition of employment.
Preferred:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- 1–2 years of ambulatory care experience.
- Experience with an electronic medical record system.
