Sign Language Interpreter; ASL Grayslake, Illinois

Step into a meaningful, rewarding opportunity supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing as a sign language interpreter. Two contract positions are open—both with the chance to make a difference in the classroom while collaborating directly with educational teams dedicated to student success. With onsite roles starting as soon as possible and extending through late May 2027, you’ll play an essential bridge in communication.

• Proficiency in American Sign Language and experience interpreting in educational settings
• Relevant certification: EIPA score of 3.5+ with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Approval, or EIPA 3.0–3.4 with interim ISBE approval; BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials also acceptable with ISBE Approval
• Commitment to accurate, culturally competent interpretation for students and staff
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with learners of all abilities
• Flexibility to adapt to classroom dynamics and evolving schedules

• Provide sign language interpretation for students in elementary or high school settings
• Facilitate clear and effective communication between students, peers, and instructional staff
• Support classroom participation and access to curriculum and activities
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards
• Collaborate with educators and support teams to enhance the learning environment
• Assist with daily preparation and wrap-up activities as needed

Compensation for this position ranges from $28.39 to $48.39.
