Position: Spanish Teacher in the Beautiful Berkshires- 2026-2027 Academic Year

Berkshire Waldorf School is seeking a full time Spanish teacher for the  school year. Ideally, candidates would have Waldorf teaching experience. In addition to teaching experience, candidates are expected to be either a native speaker or have advanced fluency in Spanish. The candidate should also have a strong connection to the culture and traditions of Spanish speaking nations with a focus on sharing through song, poetry and stories for first through third grades, and a strong emphasis on conversation, grammar, writing and reading comprehension for fourth grade on.

Effective classroom management, communication, and the ability to collaborate are priorities. Classroom support and mentoring will be provided.

Essential

Job Duties
  • Teach Spanish classes for Grades 1–8
  • Lead a curriculum with a strong connection to the culture and traditions of Spanish speaking nations with a focus on sharing through song, poetry and stories for first through third grades, and a strong emphasis on conversation, grammar, writing and reading comprehension for fourth grade on.
  • Teach historical and geographical awareness of the Spanish speaking world.
  • Prepare lesson plans, student work, assessments, and reports according to BWS standards.
  • Cultivate joy, wonder, and curiosity in the classroom, fostering a positive relationship to language learning.
  • Consistent positive classroom management with a variety of ages.

Qualifications

& Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A native speaker or have advanced fluency in Spanish
  • A Waldorf teacher certificate or enrollment in an accredited Waldorf training program is preferred. A personalized mentorship program through BWS will be required if there is no Waldorf training prior.
  • Minimum of three years paid experience in an accredited primary school, preferred.
