1st Grade Class Teacher

Berkshire Waldorf School is seeking a full time First Grade class teacher for the 2027-28 school year.

Our curriculum includes languages, handwork, woodwork, music, eurythmy, games/movement and an educational support program. Festivals and celebrations are community-oriented, and there is an active anthroposophical community in the region. Our Board is active and well-established, and our strong Parent Association reflects a supportive and diverse parent body. BWS is located midway between New York City and Boston, and the Berkshires region is well known for its diverse cultural and artistic opportunities and communities.

• Teach a class of 12-15 first grade students.
• Lead the first grade curriculum in accordance with Waldorf Standards.
• Prepare lesson plans, student work, assessments, and reports according to BWS standards.
• Cultivate joy, wonder, and curiosity in the classroom, fostering a positive relationship to learning.
• On campus by 7:45 am until 3:15pm Monday-Friday.

• Bachelors Degree required.
• Waldorf Teacher Certificate and/or enrollment / plans to enroll in a Waldorf accredited training program required.
• Effective classroom management, communication, and the ability to collaborate.
• Waldorf Teaching experience preferred.
• Minimum of three years paid experience in an accredited primary school, preferred.
