Salary Range: $24.00 – $28.00 / hour. The position is full‑time, non‑exempt, and located in Great Barrington, MA (CHP Barrington OB/GYN).
Position OverviewThe Licensed Practical Nurse triages patients by telephone or walk‑in, determines urgency and level of care, and supports physicians in all clinical procedures requiring nursing support. The LPN supervises medical assistants, administers immunizations, processes medication prescriptions, pulls laboratory results, and maintains accurate charting. The role supports CHP’s mission, vision and values while adhering to compliance protocols and organizational policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Triage patients by telephone or walk‑in; approve same‑day visits when appropriate; assist with referrals to area specialists; manage PT‑1 forms and patient education.
- Assist physicians in procedures requiring nursing support; administer immunizations and allergy shots; process medication prescriptions; pull laboratory results and review partials; chart all procedures performed.
- Run daily equipment controls; chart for quality assurance (HCG, strep, sickle cell, urinalysis dipstick, etc.); ensure billing codes are correct; perform routine office duties as requested.
- Interpersonal: interact with all team members respectfully and diplomatically; maintain professional conduct and ethical standards.
- Patient care: respond appropriately to patient needs, manage difficult or emotional situations, solicit feedback to improve performance.
- Cognitive and organizational: manage multiple priorities, work well under pressure, complete tasks accurately and on time, cross‑train for site coverage, delegate effectively.
- Communication: present information clearly in one‑on‑one or small group settings; respond to questions; complete administrative duties accurately and timely.
- Numerical: calculate figures and amounts; solve practical problems; interpret instructions in various formats.
- Reliability: punctual and maintain schedule commitments.
- Language:
Spanish speaking or bilingual is a plus.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited practical nursing school.
- Experience: Minimum three years’ experience in an ambulatory setting; electronic medical record experience required; CPR certification preferred.
- License: Must be licensed as a practical nurse by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
