Hydro Excavation Operator

Job Description

Amerine Utilities Construction is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Hydro Excavation Operator / CDL Driver to join our team. This position will be responsible for driving and operating a hydro excavation truck on underground utility construction projects.

Hydro excavation uses high-pressure water and vacuum equipment to safely expose existing utilities, pothole, daylight utilities, and assist with excavation around sensitive underground infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum Class B CDL required
• Tanker endorsement required
• Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Previous hydro excavation, vacuum truck, construction, or underground utility experience is preferred
• Experience operating commercial trucks and heavy equipment is preferred
• Ability to safely operate high-pressure water and vacuum equipment
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions
• Must be dependable and willing to work as part of a construction crew
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working around excavation sites
• Must follow all company, DOT, and jobsite safety requirements

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a hydro excavation truck to and from jobsites
• Set up and operate hydro excavation and vacuum equipment
• Perform potholing/day lighting to locate and expose existing underground utilities
• Excavate around utilities using high-pressure water and vacuum systems
• Properly dispose of excavated material as required
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Maintain the truck and equipment and report maintenance or repair needs
• Complete required DOT and company documentation
• Maintain a clean and organized truck and work area
• Communicate with foremen, operators, customers, and other crew members
• Assist crews with additional jobsite duties as needed
• Follow all company safety policies and DOT regulations

We're looking for someone who takes safety, equipment care, and reliability seriously. The ideal candidate is comfortable working around underground utilities, operating large commercial equipment, and working in an active construction environment.

Position: Full-Time
CDL: Class B or higher required
Endorsement: Tanker required
Experience: Hydro excavation or underground utility experience preferred
Location: Central Kansas with travel to jobsites as required

Pay: Competitive and based on experience
