Transmission Line Structural Design Engineer

Sunflower, a generation and transmission utility serving central and western Kansas, is currently looking to expand our transmission engineering department with a Transmission Line Structural Design Engineer I in Great Bend, KS or Hays, KS. We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented individual to support the design, planning, and installation of cutting-edge electrical transmission line and substation structures. In this role, you’ll be part of a passionate engineering team responsible for bringing complex, high-voltage projects to life—from concept through commissioning.

• Collaborate on the planning and execution of high-voltage transmission line projects that keep the grid strong and reliable.
• Contribute to line routing, structure selection, conductor evaluation, and structure spotting—the core building blocks of our grid.
• Gain hands-on experience with installation and commissioning processes, learning from experienced engineers and field professionals.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Successful completion of Fundamental Engineering Exam is preferred.
