Retail & Store Manager, Retail Sales
Summary
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.
The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high level duties specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared.

SalesGeneration and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, and consistently provide legendary service
- Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs and desires
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience
- Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education, sharing knowledge with Team
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices
- Contribute to Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) usage and maintain personal sales goals
- Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales and total net sales goals set by Store Management
- Provide legendary service throughout the store in Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area
- Be knowledgeable of all exchange and return procedures and showcase opportunities
- Lead by example with showmanship, customer service and attentiveness
- Build and maintain guest relationships to develop a client-based business
- Engage teammates and leaders with feedback to improve sales presentations
- Plan sales goals with Store Manager and take ownership of store’s sales performance
- Show passion for product education and showmanship to drive results
- Identify recruiting opportunities and utilize Hiring channels and referrals
- Coach and develop new Teammates to meet Buckle’s standards and daily tasks
- Maintain a positive floor culture and professional appearance
- Participate in daily setup, training and performance tracking
- Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks and demonstrate denim showmanship
- Execute department initiatives and support leadership actions
- Assist Store Manager in recruitment of store staffing needs
- Explain pay and Buckle Benefits; maintain up-to-date contact lists
- Lead Teammate/leader training shifts and coach non-sales positions as needed
- Execute action plans with changing sales focuses
- Own and influence product through zone ownership and assign zones with learning goals
- Demonstrate new tools and maintain familiarity with zone ownership
- Delegate, demonstrate, and review all zones with Store Manager
- Ensure Visual Standards and weekly checklists are followed with urgency and accountability
- Identify merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations
- Provide informative store tours and maintain display quality
- Maintain appropriate shelving and display of new freight
- Use Performance Tracker to drive visual improvements
- Anticipate product changes and adjust visuals accordingly
- Maintain visual standards on floor and backroom
