OverviewOur client, a well-established General Contractor with multiple offices throughout Montana, is seeking a Senior Estimator with deep preconstruction expertise to support diverse commercial, ground‑up construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who truly understands the preconstruction process from start to finish and brings long‑term stability and leadership to the estimating team.
The company is open to candidates currently located in Montana or those interested in relocating, with a strong preference for individuals who have ties to the region or a genuine desire to build a life in Montana.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the preconstruction and estimating process for commercial ground‑up projects
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals
- Perform quantity takeoffs and scope reviews from conceptual through GMP/CD phases
- Collaborate closely with preconstruction, operations, project management, and subcontractors
- Analyze subcontractor bids, leveling and scope alignment
- Provide value engineering input and cost‑saving strategies
- Support project handoffs from preconstruction to operations
- Maintain accurate historical cost data and market pricing awareness
- 10+ years of estimating and preconstruction experience with a General Contractor
- Strong background in commercial ground‑up construction
- Proven understanding of the full preconstruction lifecycle
- Demonstrated job stability and good tenure with previous employers
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Experience working across multiple project types and sizes
- Ability to work from any Montana office location as needed
- Established General Contractor with a strong reputation in the Montana market
