Benefis Health System is seeking an inpatient gastroenterologist to join an established GI hospitalist practice in Great Falls, Montana. In this role, you will provide care within a brand-new, state-of-the-art endoscopy facility supported by experienced staff, dedicated anesthesia services, and advanced practice providers. Practice Info
- Established GI hospitalist practice at Benefis Health System
- Serves 80,000 Great Falls residents and 275,000 residents across north central Montana
- Team includes 7 gastroenterologists, 1 inpatient PA-C, and 3 outpatient advanced practice providers
- Brand new beautiful 22,000 SF Endoscopy space in the hospital with Olympus equipment, featuring 8 huge endoscopy suites and 24 pre op/post op bays
- Experienced and helpful staff of RNs and techs, dedicated anesthesia services, and dedicated GI Hospitalist suite
- Benefis Health System is a standalone, financially stable community health system and one of Montana's largest tertiary centers holding a level II trauma designation
Responsibilities
- Manage patients primarily within the endoscopy unit with occasional procedures in the OR
- Perform procedures including ERCP, Barryx, Spyglass, colonoscopies, EGDs, flexible sigmoidoscopies, PEG tube placements, and EUS
- Handle an average of 6 cases per day and an average of 6-7 ERCP cases per stretch
- Complete urgent/emergent procedures during a dedicated Monday-Friday block with assigned anesthesia
- Complete weekend cases during a dedicated Sunday block from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm, working with endoscopy staff
- Provide inpatient consultations and rounding with the assistance of an experienced PA-C
- Take 24-hour gastroenterology call covered by GI Hospitalists
- Perform rounds on Saturday and procedures on Sunday

Shift & Schedule
- Full time = 146 shifts annually or part time = 73 shifts annually (7-14 shifts each stretch based on preference)
- Flexible scheduling to accommodate lifestyle desire
- Typically in house from approximately 7 am - 3 pm on weekdays
- Dedicated Sunday block from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Additional opportunity for outpatient lab time during off stretch is available but not required
Qualifications
- Applicants must be board eligible/certified
- ERCP is required
