Position: Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor (10044)

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Disability Employment and Transitions Division, Vocational Rehabilitation Services Bureau.

Do you love working with people and have a passion for helping those with disabilities? This position directs the work of the Vocational Rehabilitation office while managing an active caseload. Responsibilities include ensuring case management practices align with procedures, policy, and law; counseling clients on job and career development goals; providing staff assistance with decision-making on difficult cases and serving as a liaison between Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services and community partners.

In carrying out multifaceted processes the Supervisor must be prepared to work toward the full participation of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of society, with focus on independent living and work.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity
  • Knowledge of psychosocial assessment, occupational placement, and vocational rehabilitation counseling.
  • Knowledge of medical and psychiatric conditions in relation to the rehabilitation process.
  • Knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and applications.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and balance between literal adherence to rules and the use of policies as a guide. Does not look to protect the rule, but rather uses the rules to increase engagement.
  • Meet minimum qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling.
    • Three years of experience in rehabilitation counseling.
    • Two years supervisory experience providing direction to counseling activities.
    • Certification by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) is highly preferred.
    • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Information

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2026.

This position is open until filled with frequent screening of applicants. The first screening of candidates will take place on January 21,2026.
