Systems Engineer, Cybersecurity
The Role
As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of enabling secure, scalable and mission‑critical cloud capabilities within our Cloud Engineering team, providing critical support across public, private or hybrid environments.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll work collaboratively with engineering teams to design, deploy, and automate solutions that help deliver next‑generation services across complex operational environments.
Your responsibilities will include- Building and configuring cloud services to meet business and application requirements
- Monitoring cloud environments for performance, availability, cost optimisation, and security compliance
- Developing and maintaining infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation, or ARM templates
- Automating deployment pipelines and CI/CD workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
- Implementing and enforcing cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption and network security
- Working closely with development, operations, and security teams to enable smooth application deployments
- Previous experience in designing, deploying, and managing solutions in AWS
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools
- Familiarity with networking concepts (DNS, VPN, load balancers, firewalls, routing)
- Strong familiarity with AWS services
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
This role is 37 hours per week based at either our Malvern or Farnborough site, with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.
Location – MalvernThe Malvern facility is noted for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK’s defence capabilities. It develops technologies for military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications and cyber security.
All applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
Many roles in QinetiQ are subject to national security vetting. Applicants who already hold the appropriate level of vetting may be able to transfer it upon appointment.
