We are looking for an experienced National Grid Electricity SR163 PC Site Manager to oversee works on National Grid electricity infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience working within the National Grid Electricity Transmission environment and a strong understanding of SR163 requirements and Principal Contractor responsibilities . This is a key site-based position with responsibility for the safe and effective management of site activities, contractors and personnel, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with National Grid procedures, CDM requirements, programme and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Act as the Principal Contractor Site Manager in accordance with National Grid SR163 requirements . Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of site activities. Ensure all works are undertaken safely and in accordance with National Grid Electricity Transmission procedures and standards . Manage and coordinate subcontractors, site personnel, plant and resources. Ensure compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) and Principal Contractor duties.
Review and manage RAMS, site documentation, permits and safe systems of work. Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, briefings and safety inspections. Liaise with National Grid representatives, project management, engineering teams and subcontractors. Monitor site progress against the agreed construction programme. Identify and resolve site issues that could affect safety, quality, programme or delivery. Maintain accurate site records, reports and project documentation.
Ensure high standards of health, safety, environmental management and housekeeping are maintained throughout the project. Manage interfaces between different contractors and work packages. Support the planning and coordination of outages and other operationally sensitive activities where applicable. Essential Requirements Candidates should have:
Previous experience working as a Site Manager / PC Site Manager on National Grid Electricity projects. Strong working knowledge of National Grid SR163 requirements . Experience operating within a Principal Contractor environment . Good understanding of National Grid Electricity Transmission site procedures. Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and Principal Contractor responsibilities . Proven experience managing contractors and construction activities on high-risk infrastructure projects.
Excellent health & safety knowledge. Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills. Ability to manage multiple contractors and work packages simultaneously. Relevant National Grid authorisations / competencies appropriate to the project. Appropriate Site Management health & safety qualification(s), such as SMSTS or equivalent .
Desirable Experience
Experience with in any of the following would be advantageous:
National Grid substations. Electricity transmission infrastructure. High-voltage substations and compounds. New-build, extension, refurbishment or upgrade projects. AIS / GIS substations. Cable installation and associated civils. Transformer and switch gear projects. Protection and control works. Outage-related projects. Major electrical infrastructure and HV construction projects.
The Role This position would suit an experienced National Grid professional who is comfortable taking overall responsibility for the management of a busy site and ensuring contractors operate safely and in accordance with National Grid requirements.
