Wood is currently recruiting for a Crane Support Engineer to join the team at our Great Yarmouth offices.
The RoleContributing to technical delivery of engineering excellence through:
- Executing assigned scopes of work
- Providing discipline expertise to the business
- Supporting and supervising task delegation to team
Uses technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems. Completes almost any engineering task with minimal guidance and direction. May serve as the primary discipline engineer or discipline technical authority on projects with small to medium complexity.
Designing the Future. Transforming the WorldP&E offers a wide range of opportunities which will allow you to develop your skills across a portfolio of onshore projects in different sectors. Our current portfolio includes green hydrogen and fuel switching, as well as supporting local clients with energy transition. Additionally, we work on UK refineries, petrochemical facilities, fine chemicals and pharmaceutical facilities. We have a number of clients who we are working with to design their pilot plants to test exciting new technologies, with a view to partnering with them as they move to design and build full scale commercial facilities.
Responsibilities- Solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches; exercises mature professional judgment in evaluating and selecting technical strategic options
- As necessary, modifies established guidelines, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions from comparative situations
- Regularly functions as a technical leader or significant contributor to a major complex problem or project
- Produces innovative ideas and solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches
- Consistently called on to use creativity and professional judgement to formulate results based on engineering standards, experience and constructive thinking
- Develops unique solutions for complex technical problems
- Anticipates potential problems and takes the initiative to solve complex problems through creative thinking and creative use of internal and external resources both inside and outside of discipline expertise
- Exercises mature professional judgement in identifying the implications of experimental results
- Understands customer needs and applies technical solutions to meet goals
- Provide technical input and support to proposals as required

Minimum Qualifications- ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred) Degree in engineering discipline, alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence
- Chartership or relevant professional engineer status accredited by a national or industry engineering institution preferred
- Requires mature professional knowledge and extensive progressive experience in general engineering
- Strong progressively more responsible pertinent experience
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating and mentoring professional engineering specialists
- Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments
- Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates
- Professional level of ability in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution
- Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards
