The Prince George’s County Office of Procurement is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Procurement Officer 3G
, grade G24 in the Business Services Unit.
This is senior and administrative professional work performed in a large‑scale centralized purchasing operation engaged in the purchase of a variety of materials, supplies, services, and equipment for the County.
About the AgencyThe Office of Procurement was launched on July 1, 2024, and comprises three main divisions: the Office of Accountability, Business Services, and Office of Administrative Services. These divisions will house critical functions including Contract Compliance, Contract Administration & Procurement, and Supplier Development & Diversity, formerly managed under the Office of Central Services. The Office of Procurement will help foster transparency and efficiency in our procurement process every day while also providing a high impact means to promote equity.
Through the new Office of Procurement, small, local, and minority‑owned businesses are supported, creating new opportunities for our residents to work in and improve the community where they live.
- Coordinates bid preparations, solicitations, awards and contract extensions with using agencies and the Supplier Development and Diversity Division consistent with County policy. Obtains written concurrence on actions taken, as required.
- Provides recommendations to the Contract Review Committee which are researched, documented, of sound logic, economically viable and properly coordinated.
- Prepares specifications, solicits and conducts analysis of bid/proposal responses and provides recommendation for contract award in accordance with procurement law, regulations, procedures and solicitation requirements.
- Maintains neat, complete, well organized and legible records of all procurement transactions as required by law or policy.
- Initiates and follows through on procurement actions in a manner that will facilitate completion of purchases within time frames required by the user and/or established by supervisor as individual goals.
- Processes approved requisitions, maintaining an average requisition turnaround time consistent with Divisional and individual annual production goals.
- Consults with using agency and obtains written concurrence at least thirty (30) days prior to the exercise of any contract extension option.
- Undertakes re‑bidding actions prior to the expiration of existing term contracts and in sufficient time as to ensure no lapse in contract coverage occurs.
- Maintains no less than 90% of biddable assigned inventory items under competitively bid contracts. Accomplishes contract loading in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reviews and/or develops appropriate written determinations ensuring they are accurate, concise and consistent with applicable legal guidelines and policies.
- Meets Certified County‑based business and MBE participation goal, when established.
- Routinely researches market trends, reviews technical, trade and legal publications and keeps abreast of current and applicable regulatory rulings.
- Conducts active follow‑up and enforcement to ensure contract performance and quality in accordance with contract terms, conditions and specifications.
