Positions designated as limited-term grant-funded are temporary in nature and the employment period is contingent upon the grant’s continued funding availability. This position does offer benefits.

The Prince George’s County Department of Health is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Social Work IV, grade G27 position, in the Behavioral Health Division.

Examples of Work
  • Attends and participates in weekly pre-docket and Mental Health Court hearings.
  • Reports on the status of defendants during court hearings.
  • Collects, analyzes and interprets program data, submits bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports of program activities and accomplishments.
  • Conducts diagnostic evaluations on Mental Health Court referrals and participants which may occur in the Prince George's County jail.
  • Assists case managers with determining social work and mental health care required by complex patients/clients in crisis situations.
  • Monitors the SMART data tracking system to ensure compliance with the Office of Problem-Solving Court.
  • Collaborates with state hospitals to ensure viable discharge plans for defendants returning to the community.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university or equivalent program as determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners with a master's degree in social work.
  • Three (3) years Post Masters experience providing social work services including two (2) years of lead/supervisory responsibilities.
  • Possession of a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) certified by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners at time of appointment.
  • Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle when required for the performance of job-related duties at time of appointment.
