Sales Trainee Program – February 2026

Join the 12‑month Sales Trainee Program (STP) designed to accelerate a career in sales for early‑career professionals. You will gain exposure to different parts of the business, shadow experienced sales professionals, and receive formal mentorship.

Program Overview

Start date:

February 16, 2026. Duration: 12 months. After successful completion, graduates transition to a full‑time sales role based on preferences and business needs.

What to Expect Learn
  • Attend workshops, programs, and other learning opportunities to develop sales skills and industry knowledge.
  • Participate in training sessions to understand Ferguson’s products, services, sales techniques, and processes.
Shadow
  • Observe experienced sales professionals in client interactions, sales strategies, and negotiation techniques.
  • Review the sales process from prospecting to closing deals, including customer relationship management and post‑sale support.
Develop
  • Seek feedback from mentors, supervisors, and peers to improve performance.
  • Undergo performance evaluations to track progress, identify strengths, and set professional development goals.

Program Graduation

Upon successful completion, graduates will transition into a full‑time sales role, with placement determined by individual preferences and business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the sales team, including outlining project tasks and timelines.
  • Prospect new leads and handle customer inquiries.
  • Assist in developing sales proposals, contracts, and other closing documentation.
  • Coordinate tasks, track progress, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Interact with customers to understand needs, address inquiries, and provide product or service information.
  • Collect feedback to improve customer experience.
  • Take initiative to learn new sales techniques, tools, and technologies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; 1‑3 years of experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Strong desire to work in a sales‑focused role and learn about Ferguson’s products, services, sales technologies, and processes.
  • Self‑motivated with a track record of driving results.
  • Customer‑focused with a natural penchant for addressing needs effectively.
  • Flexible and open to change.
  • Preferred: prior sales experience or internships.
