Full Hiring Range: $19.32– $24.16 hourly

Anticipated Hiring Range: $19.32 - $21.74 hourly

Job Summary

The Crossing Guard Coordinator is responsible for managing the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of crossing guards to ensure the safe and efficient movement of students to and from school. This role serves as the primary liaison between schools, the community, law enforcement, and crossing guard personnel.



Minimum Requirements

Experience, Education, and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work early mornings and during peak school hours.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
OR

  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job,
AND

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Preferred

  • Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a public safety, education, or transportation setting.
  • Familiarity with local traffic laws and pedestrian safety practices.
  • English/Spanish bilingual skills.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities

  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal traffic regulations related to school zones and pedestrian safety.
  • Knowledge of basic emergency response and incident reporting protocols, especially in school or traffic-related scenarios.
  • Understanding of recruitment, scheduling, supervision, and performance management principles.
  • Knowledge of how to deliver effective training for adult learners, particularly related to safety and situational awareness.
  • Understanding of administrative systems for tracking attendance, incidents, schedules, and compliance.
Travel

Approximately 10% flexible, local travel required.

Essential Functions

  • Recruit, interview, and hire school crossing guards.
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels at all designated crossing locations.
  • Coordinate background checks and ensure all personnel meet eligibility requirements.
  • Ensure all crossing guards are trained in accordance with local and state regulations.
  • Prepare and manage daily and contingency work schedules.
  • Arrange coverage for absenteeism or special events and serve as backup for unexpected absences.
  • Ensure guards are equipped with proper uniforms and safety gear.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for crossing guard concerns or incidents.
  • Address complaints or conflicts from the community or school personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of personnel, attendance, training, and incidents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Hiring, training, motivating and coaching employees;
  • Evaluate employee performance and goal setting;
    Hold employees accountable for assigned task and goals;
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback and training opportunities;
  • Provide training opportunities with a focus on employee development;
  • Resolve conflicts and complaints;
  • Analyzing information and processes and develop more effective or efficient processes;
    Establishing and achieving business and financial objectives;
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures
