Are you ready to take your process safety career to the next level? This high-visibility role reports to the Director, PSM and offers the opportunity to shape safety performance across multiple manufacturing facilities, partner directly with site leaders, and drive initiatives that protect people, assets, and communities. You'll leverage your expertise in PHA facilitation, incident investigations, and risk management to influence operational excellence while building a reputation as a trusted technical leader.

This position is located at either our Deerfield, Illinois, Biola, California or Greeley, Colorado sites.

Process Safety Leadership & Compliance

• Lead PSM and RMP programs across multiple chemical manufacturing facilities.
• Partner with site leadership to strengthen process safety performance, regulatory compliance, and risk management systems.
• Participate in process safety audits, assessments, and compliance initiatives.

Risk Assessment & Incident Prevention

• Facilitate PHAs, risk assessments, SILD studies, and other process safety reviews.
• Oversee Management of Change (MOC) processes and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Review emergency response plans and recommend improvements to strengthen site preparedness.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

• Track and analyze process safety KPIs to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of process safety standards, programs, and best practices.
• Coaching, Training & Collaboration
• Build strong partnerships with site teams through collaboration, communication, and a service-oriented approach.
• Coach frontline leaders on process safety expectations, work processes, and field engagement practices.

Travel

• Travel up to 30% to provide support and leadership across Nutrien's manufacturing network.

• Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering; or equivalent background and experience
• 12+ years in a process safety engineering role, working in an industrial processing environment
• Background in chemical processing, with anhydrous ammonia experience considered an asset
• Experience with PHAPro, SAP, Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio
• Working knowledge of process safety management (29 CFR ) and risk management plan regulations (40 CFR 68)
