Position Description

The IT Data Analyst I will implement BI software and systems, including integration services with databases and data warehouses. They will assist in building, deploying, and maintaining data support tools, metadata inventories, and database file/table definitions.

Essential Duties
  • Assist data leadership in establishing long‑term strategic goals for business intelligent platforms and toolsets.
  • Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.
  • Identify research questions, problem‑solve using data analysis, and communicate the results to various stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on BI products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Create and manage data queries based on business requirements as directed by data services team members / manager.
  • Integrate data management applications with existing systems.
  • Apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data models.
  • Create and update data definitions for new database file/table development and/or changes to existing ones.
  • Assist management in determining required network components to ensure data access, as well as data consistency and integrity.
  • Develop routines for end users to facilitate best‑practice use of data management tools.
  • Collaborate with database and disaster recovery administrators to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  • Monitor data management system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
Additional Qualifications
  • College diploma or university degree in computer science or statistics, and/or 4+ years of equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in BI solutions are a plus.
  • Basic understanding of data models, structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of MS/Azure solution suite including MS SQL, SSRS, SSIS, Event Hub, Synapse, Data Vault, etc.
  • Familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of relational database servers, including MS SQL.
  • Exposure to data management techniques.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into data management issues, practices, and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in a user‑friendly language.
  • Highly self‑motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
