Community Development Director – City of Greeley, Colorado

The City of Greeley is seeking an energetic leader and creative visionary to serve as its next Community Development Director and a person desiring to work in a dynamic and innovative workplace. The ideal candidate is diplomatic and politically savvy. They are a strong communicator, a strategic thinker, and a collaborative, approachable servant leader. The ideal candidate will have stability and integrity, be experienced with public engagement, understand and support work/life balance, be able to motivate and inspire a team, and remain inclusive and collaborative.

They must have knowledge or become knowledgeable of laws related to land use planning, building codes, environmental conditions, regional issues, code compliance practices, housing assistance, social services, and economic development practices and programs.

The next Community Development Director will be experienced with fast-paced growth and a strategic management style. They will be able to develop relationships within the development community and get things done. Experience gained in land use planning, public administration, city management, or a similar field is required, as well as a desired working knowledge of all disciplines represented in the department and most external city operational services programs.

Experience in a quickly growing community is a plus.

A bachelor’s degree in a related field plus at least seven years of increasingly responsible experience in municipal administration in community development, and five years’ experience supervising staff (preferably in a municipality or public jurisdiction) is highly desired. A master’s degree in land use planning or public administration is preferred but not required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

The annual salary range for this position is $161,900-$234,000, dependent on qualifications and experience.
