School Crossing Guard role at City of Greeley
Anticipated Hiring Range: $14.81‑$16.23
The City of Greeley is looking for responsible and safety‑minded School Crossing Guards that will direct pedestrian crossings and ensure the safety of children, while remaining alert to traffic hazards.

School Crossing Guards direct pedestrian crossings and ensure the safety of children, while remaining alert to traffic hazards. Guards must be punctual and must remain at the work location until the conclusion of their assignment at various school locations throughout Greeley. Substitutes must be able to respond to short‑notice requests as needed and when available.
ShiftsWork is performed in two, 1.5‑hour shifts—morning shift and afternoon shift—for a total of 3 hours per day.
Monday through Friday during the school year. Substitutes may refuse a request to fill an open position, but no more than three consecutive times.
Note:
Candidates must submit to a background investigation and a drug test prior to employment.
- Must be 18 years old or older.

- Ability to stay patient and have concern for safety.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- History working with children preferred.
- Concern for safety of others.
- Ability to understand written and oral instruction.
- Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and reliable professional judgment, as well as collaboratively with a team to achieve desired results.
- Stands for long periods of time to safely help pedestrians cross the road.
- Ensures the safety of pedestrians.
- Communicates effectively with parents and students.
- Works outside during school sessions.
Physical Requirements
- Working outdoors during school sessions.
- May require work in adverse weather conditions.
- Requires extended periods of standing and sitting.
