HOURS:

** 8-12 hours per week; depending on the hours of operation in the Dental Assistant Clinic and the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Scheduled to be determined at the time of hire; flexibility required to meet the needs of our students/customers.
** STARTING RATE OF PAY:** $16.36 per hour
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*** Facilitate cross-cultural communication for non-English speaking dental patients during the appointment including translating patient care interactions between the patient, student, faculty, and dentist, and assisting with completion of health questionnaire forms.
* Assist with patient appointment scheduling and confirmation for non-English speaking Dental patients.
* Assist with translation of dental and medical forms and procedural signages for the Dental Assistant and Dental Hygiene Clinics.
* Adhere to HIPAA privacy laws to protect the confidentiality of patient information.
* Communicate dental clinic services, protocols, and limitations to non-English speaking patients.
** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
*** Technical Diploma or Associate Degree
* 2 years of prior customer service/administrative work experience; ideally within the Dental industry.
* Microsoft Office Suite
* Ability to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish and English
* An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

* Preferred Qualifications:

*** Two years’ experience as a Spanish/English interpreter is preferred.
* Workday preferred;
Knowledge of Dental Software (Dentrix) preferred.
* Certificate in the completion of an Interpreter Training Program or the passing of a Certified Interpreter Exam preferred.
