Position: Psychiatrist (Outpatient)

This role assumes responsibility for the psychiatric care and treatment of clients in the outpatient setting. Performs related duties as assigned. This is a weekday, Monday through Friday outpatient clinic position, providing services to clients mostly between 8am and 5pm. As the mental health professional, you are responsible for diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders, usually through medication. Duties include studying mood, personality, and behavioral disorders, discussing symptoms with patients to determine a diagnosis and prescribing medication to correct chemical imbalances in the patient’s brain.

Use a variety of methods to evaluate a patient, mostly by interviewing patients, their family or other persons.

Develop a treatment plan according to the needs of the patient’s needs and extent of emotional, social, cognitive, developmental, or behavioral disorder.

Directs, supervises, and provides consultation when needed to other clinic professional staff in the implementation of treatment plans and care of clients under his/her care.

Treat a patient using psychotherapeutic methods and medication, monitoring the effects of any medication, and adjusting treatment where necessary.

Consult with the patient’s Primary Care Physician, Nurses or other health care providers when needed.

Provides psychiatric consultation, evaluation and treatment as required.

Provide crisis intervention when needed.

Write and maintain patient and clinical records, including the type of treatment and medication administered.

Keep up to date with professional job knowledge by reading publications, attending educational conferences, or maintaining professional networks.

Follow ethical and legal policies, procedures, and standards.

Discharges clients and/or assists in the closing of cases on clients under his/her care in a timely manner.

Assists the Clinical Director in the development, evaluation, and implementation of clinical programs.

Participates in clinic and related community treatment center meetings and duties as required.

Assumes overall responsibility for the care rendered to clients under his/her care.

Maintains responsibility for safe client care through appropriate planning, implementation, and evaluation procedures.

Maintains documentation as required and completes in a timely manner according to Department policy and regulatory requirement.

Maintains the confidential nature of client and business information.

Performs related functions as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Physician licensed in State of Wisconsin, with Board Certification in Psychiatry Preferred.

Licenses and Certifications to practice medicine in Wisconsin.

Certification to Practice Psychiatry in the state of Wisconsin.

Licensed with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.


Licenses and Certifications:

Physician licensed in State of Wisconsin.

Board certification in psychiatry.

Licensed with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.

Knowledge of multi-disciplinary mental health treatment methods.

Knowledge of psychiatric treatment in assigned areas.

Knowledge of electronic medical records or ability to learn those skills.

Knowledge and understanding of the terminology, theory, techniques, and practices of professional psychiatry.

Knowledge of a variety of medications along with their side effects, side actions and contraindications.

Ability to initiate, maintain, and implement an Integrated Care Plan.
