Join the team as a TRIO Support Specialist - Grant Funded at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College
. This position supports first‑generation, low‑income, and disability students through personalized advising, resource coordination, and grant program activities to promote persistence, graduation, and transfer.

Position Summary

The Specialist delivers academic, career, and financial advising to TRIO participants, assists with screening eligibility, develops individualized success plans, and coordinates workshops and outreach to promote student success.

Essential Functions
  • Provide academic, career, and financial advising to TRIO participants.
  • Screen applicants for program eligibility.
  • Develop individualized success plans and monitor progress.
  • Connect students to tutoring, counseling, and disability services.
  • Coordinate workshops on study skills, financial literacy, and transfer planning.
  • Support cultural enrichment activities, campus engagement, and 4‑year college visits.
  • Schedule and deliver program events.
  • Maintain accurate student records in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Track participation and outcomes for reporting and evaluation.
  • Prepare annual performance reports.
  • Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and other support services to ensure holistic student support.
  • Promote TRIO services through outreach and recruitment efforts.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development related to TRIO objectives.
Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience
  • Associate degree required.
  • Minimum of one year of related work experience (counseling, academic or career advising, enrollment, financial aid, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and comply with federal program guidelines.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with a TRIO project preferred.
  • Experience working closely with low‑income, first‑generation, and disabled students and students from diverse backgrounds preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial aid processes and academic advising best practices.
  • Familiarity with TRIO programs or similar student success initiatives.
  • Proficiency in student information systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.

  • Visual and Auditory:
    Ability to read documents and communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Light Lifting:
    Capability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
