Overview

Join to apply for the Municipal Engineering Technical Lead role at Ayres Associates
. Ayres is seeking a senior municipal water and/or wastewater engineer with a proven track record of technical design and managing and successfully executing various municipal utility projects. The successful candidate will have expertise in utility design, water/wastewater distribution and collection systems, and utility relocation projects, with experience in managing projects and clients, permitting, design, specification and contract preparation, and construction management.

On Any Given Day, You’ll

  • Take the lead in and work collaboratively to deliver projects for municipal governments.
  • Lead the technical design of municipal water and/or wastewater projects including distribution, pumping, storage, treatment, and process engineering.
  • Manage projects, oversee design and production of plans and specifications and related regulatory submittals, and ensure work is produced on schedule, profitably, and in conformance with Ayres’ quality standards and contract requirements.
  • Build and maintain respectful working relationships with the design team, project managers, and other leaders within the company.
  • Support and participate in the development and mentorship of staff.
  • Actively engage in professional organizations to maintain and/or share technical knowledge.
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered professional engineer (PE) in Wisconsin or Minnesota.
  • 15+ years of experience in the field of municipal utility design and construction.
  • Ability to independently manage small to medium size projects.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Desired Skills And Experiences
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities, especially in smaller communities.
  • Ability to work with a team to ensure work is accurate, thorough, and aligned with established standards while providing helpful feedback.
