Economic Support Specialist – County of Brown

We are looking for self‑motivated, organized, and detail‑oriented candidates to determine eligibility for all Economic Support programs including Medicaid, Badger care Plus, Food Share, and Child Care assistance. The role involves meeting with consumers, collecting data, computing budgets, recording and documenting information, and accessing and inputting data into the statewide computer processing system. Telework may be considered upon successful completion of training.
EssentialDuties
- Conduct interviews with clients to gather financial and non‑financial information necessary to determine eligibility, clarify discrepancies, and analyze client needs to determine referrals to other programs.
- Secure, analyze, interpret, and determine validity of client statements and documentation such as legal documents, income tax forms, real estate contracts, evidence of immigration status, trust documents, financial, medical and employment records; investigate questionable information.
- Determine initial and continued eligibility and benefits level within specific time limits through reviewing and monitoring clients’ income and assets, applying complex program rules, reconciling benefit levels, and ensuring timely written notification citing appropriate regulations or statutes for granting or denying benefits.
- Prepare and monitor clients’ monthly budget computations using sophisticated mathematical formulas, analysis of automated reports, and detailed bookkeeping procedures.
- Utilize multiple complex computer programs and databases to record, research, investigate, verify information; compute benefit levels; and register and monitor case activity. Examples include CARES, CWW, KIDS, Forward Health Portal, and SAVE.
- Establish and maintain electronic and paper case files to ensure accurate assistance history, verification, documentation Евекс and correspondence.
- Research and prepare written summary; appear as the agency representative at administrative hearings related to denied, terminated or reduced economic assistance to a client.
- Perform other duties as required seach related special projects and functions as assigned.
- Considerable knowledge of federal, state and county compliance standards, regulations and eligibility factors of need determination for complex financial assistance.
- Considerable knowledge of socio‑economic factors in the community and ability to relate sensitively to diverse populations.
- Ability to interpret, analyze and apply federal, state and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures perfecto economic assistance programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, families, community agencies, county staff, governmental agencies, contract staff, medical or day‑care vendors and the general public.
