- AMG Women’s Center outpatient setting
- Provider-driven OB/GYN clinic with consistent workflow
- Calm, structured environment—no inpatient chaos
- Setting:
Women’s Health Ultrasound Department - Focus:
Gynecological & Obstetric imaging - Patient Population:
Adult female patients only - Patient Ratio: 1:1
The Sonographer performs OB and GYN ultrasound exams under the direction of OB/GYN providers, ensuring accurate imaging, patient safety, and clear communication of diagnostic findings to interpreting physicians.
Core Responsibilities- Perform gynecological and obstetric ultrasound exams
- Identify and differentiate normal vs. pathological findings
- Review patient history, orders, labs, and clinical documentation
- Position patients and select appropriate transducers and settings
- Label, document, and archive images accurately
- Enter exam data and billing codes into RIS
- Communicate findings clearly to physicians
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and departmental standards
- Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety at all times
- Identify equipment issues and elevate appropriately
- ARDMS – OB/GYN (must obtain within 3 months if not already held)
- ARDMS – Abdomen (must obtain within 3 months if required by leadership)
- Strong competency in OB and GYN ultrasound procedures
- Excellent anatomical recognition and image acquisition skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple exams
- Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and safety protocols
- Comfortable adapting to varying schedules and clinic flow
- Facility and department orientation provided
- Focused onboarding to clinic workflow and expectations
