IT Cybersecurity Analyst – Data Security Engineer

WEC Energy Group is hiring a Data Security Engineer to work in Milwaukee, Green Bay, or Chicago with a hybrid work arrangement. The role is part of the IT Cybersecurity Analyst family where experience determines the level.

Key responsibilities include establishing data security standards, designing and deploying enterprise data protection solutions (DLP, encryption, cloud protection), conducting risk assessments, collaborating cross‑functionally, managing data security KPIs, and monitoring incident response.

• Establish and implement data security standards and criteria.
• Design, develop, deploy, and manage enterprise data security solutions including DLP, encryption, and cloud protection.
• Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate potential data security threats, including third‑party assessments.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and deploy data protection measures and best practices.
• Provide expert guidance on data privacy management and risk mitigation techniques.
• Ensure KPIs related to data security are accurately tracked and reported.
• Monitor and respond to data security incidents, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Regularly review data security policies and standards and recommend enhancements to adapt to regulatory changes.

Required qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, 2+ years of cybersecurity experience, and strong interpersonal skills. Preferred qualifications include 5+ years in data engineering or database design, advanced cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CISM, OSCP, CCSP, GAIC, MCSE, GICSP, CSSA). Additional desirable skills:
Active Directory design, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), Power Shell or .NET scripting, SOC experience, data security expertise, and network access management.
