Job responsibilities include removing, flexing, jogging, and stacking printed sheets, folded signatures, labels, or other in-process products from the discharge unit of printing press or adhesives coating equipment. Review signatures for smearing, register issues, bad folds, etc., and notify the pressroom. Remove folded signatures from web press and place on pallets or skids for removal to warehouse or binding areas. Adjust stacking mechanisms according to paper dimensions.
Load and unload materials onto/from pallets, carts, and trays. Convey materials from storage to designated areas using manual or electric equipment. Count, weigh, and record units moved daily. Attach labels or tags to materials and mark information on containers. Stack or assemble materials into bundles, banding them as needed. Operate automated equipment or industrial trucks occasionally.
Basic knowledge of warehouse layout, item identification codes, and procedures is required to place or retrieve paper stock, signatures, and materials efficiently. Ability to stock, move, unload, and rotate items on/off printing press equipment under guidance. Familiarity with automatic counters and basic form completion related to stock description, quantity, and labeling. Skills in manual handling tools and equipment such as dollies, carts, hand tools, and banding machines are necessary.
