Position: SQF Practitioner (Acme)

Job Summary

The SQF Practitioner is responsible for managing and ensuring the implementation of Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards within the harvesting and processing operations. This role involves overseeing the SQF program to ensure compliance with food safety and quality requirements, facilitating audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The SQF Practitioner will work closely with various teams to uphold high standards of food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the implementation of the SQF system at the facility.
  • Coordinate monthly SQF meetings with the Food Safety Team and Food Quality Team to discuss and report issues, concerns, and improvements.
  • Stay current on all SQF updates and changes and communicate these changes to the Food Safety and Food Quality Team.
  • Validate changes to the SQF system as they apply to producing safe food.
  • Review, maintain, and approve all SQF documents and appropriate paperwork.
  • Assist with updating, maintaining, and enforcing quality programs: HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, SQF; monitor programs and ensure programs are enforced on the floor.
  • Confer with management, customers, and other representatives in planning, scheduling, coordinating, and enforcing the Quality Assurance / Food Safety programs.
  • Assist with investigations, corrective actions, and follow up on preventive measures.
  • Oversee employee training processes to ensure the successful completion and implementation of all required training.
  • Work closely with local and regional USDA/FSIS authorities, customer representatives (if needed), government agencies, and auditors.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • HACCP certified or have ability to obtain certification.
  • SQF certified or have ability to obtain certification.
  • NOTE:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Animal Science, or other biological sciences. Bachelor’s degree in other areas will be considered.
  • 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance / Food Safety in the meat industry.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish (read, write, and speak).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and SSOPs.
  • Must have practical knowledge of FSIS regulations for meat products.
  • Must have detailed and practical knowledge in plant sanitation practices.
  • Knowledge in the operation of beef slaughter and fabrication, ground beef production, rendering and animal welfare.
  • Working knowledge of microbiology, aseptic sampling technique, sampling plans, and laboratory practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills.
  • Possess self-motivation with the ability to take direction. Attain a strong leadership capacity with high personal integrity.
  • Strong computer skills: ability to use designated programs including Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook), the internet, and ERP systems.
